I was sad to learn that my "presidential hopeful" bowed out of the race Tuesday night. Yes, I am a Mike Huckabee fan. Mike spoke my language. Mike and I would be great friends.
Frankly, I'm humored by political candidates that beat the "change" horse to death. The federal government has the ability to change policies and economics, but in my strong opinion, more than anything, America is truly in need of a cultural change. What happened to ONUG?
Other nations threaten our existence, but decay starts from within and we threaten our own.
A recent article I read wrote it best:
"Families are falling apart: fathers are abdicating their responsibilities; mothers are more concerned about themselves than their children; divorce is rampant. Values and norms are changing: gays want to redefine marriage; wanton sex is expected; foul talk dominates the airwaves. Contemporary media glorifies these failings and makes heroes of adulterers, murderers, and drunks—or at least those who portray them and sing about them."
These are examples of the cultural decay that's running rampant in our society, but this decay begins in our hearts. Would Mike Huckabee have reversed the cultural decay that plagues us if he had gone on to win office? No. But again, in my opinion, the difference between Mike Huckabee and other candidates was/is huge. First, Mike acknowledges the decay and recognizes its affect on every area of our society. Mike's belief is that change will occur and exist in the heart of each American choosing to surrender to God. (Can I get an ONUG?!) The power of the Presidency is incapable of changing a culture. However, other candidates believe the "change" begins with them.
Ignorance is truly bliss and I would prefer a canidate in office that knows the change doesn't begin with him, but with HIM.
One can argue that if God wanted ole Huck to be President, he would have continued on, and I can't agree more. Despite the GOP and delegate battles, God is truly in control and there isn't any vote or nation that can change that. God has something to do and say in every area of human endeavor and He has a plan.
While I will always like Mike, respect his views, and hoped he would have become our next President, Mike, it just wasn't God's will. BUT! As individuals, we can begin to reverse the cultural decay that exists around us regardless of who occupies the Oval Office.
One Nation Under God.

You preach it sista!
Amen! I hated to see him bow out as well!
I guess that's why Bush is now taking up with McCain....
Yeah unfortunately when the media got behind McCain there was no stopping him. My choices were Romney and Thompson and they, like Huck, were made out to look silly.
Anyhow, so I reregistered my voter registration from Republican to Unaffliated that way I can vote in either the Dem or Rep primary. Candace, you know how much I like a circus or pony show. When it comes time to vote in the primaries, don't be surprised if I vote on the Dem side just to let the circus continue. Now that's a party that could go to war with itself.
Peanuts anyone?
